Mental Well-Being & Connection Series

This workshop will provide practical and grounded tools for navigating the emotional landscape of everyday life.  A great opportunity for caregivers, those who have a desire to improve their health & well-being, want to support their loved ones & community better, or simply feel better, as well as those who want to develop a better understanding of the connection between the physical, mental & emotional bodies.

This workshop is a collaboration between Arroyo Seco Live, Joy Yoga & Sarah Sue ~ who will be the facilitator & teacher of the workshop.

For June 18th, the focus will be on emotional landscape of Anger.

We will gather and explore practical and grounded perspectives, tools and therapeutics.  There will be opportunities to share & practice therapeutics, in circle, as well as sit back, listen & learn.  All of this will take place within the Joy Yoga of Taos Studio.  We will then have an opportunity to "dance it out" with some therapeutic dance and movement.  Emotions reside in the body.  So, it only makes sense that we connect to our bodies, through movement & dance, to move the emotions through.

Simply come early to sign in, get a comfy space in the yoga studio, and a cup of herbal tea.  Bring water, a snack, notebook, pen, your curiosity and dancing shoes.

This is a safe space for all ~ ages, backgrounds, origins, religions, LGBTQIA+.  No pre-registration required.

Exchange ~ $10-100 / person, sliding scale, kids under 10 years old free

Children welcome.  There will be professional childcare support ~ additional $5 / little.

Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine Walks, Outings & Experiences

Aside from teaching in the clinic setting, classroom & virtually, Dr. Sarah Sue finds great joy teaching in the field… forest, trail, backyard. Wherever she goes, finding plant friends along the way. She loves introducing them, and her love for them, to others. These often include plant identification basics, herbal education & medicinal properties of the plants, sustainable wildcrafting & harvesting practices, herbal processing, medicine making, sitting with the plants & meditations, exploring plant energetics, storytelling, and honing skills of listening and observing the wonders around you. Dr. Sarah Sue has led herb walks for friends, clients, students, corporate wellness groups and even her son’s preschool class. Want to get to know your plant neighbors, friends and allies? Contact Dr. Sarah Sue to coordinate your own herb walk and experience. This can be a hike into the mountains, or simply stepping out in your own backyard. Humans of all ages, abilities & levels are welcome. The sky is the limit!

Virtual Plant Medicine 101

These virtual Plant Medicine walks were led by naturopath, herbalist and earth steward, Dr. Sarah Sue. She guided us on plant medicine walks from her backyard in Bellingham, WA, in 2020 & 2021. On these walks, lessons will include plant identification, medicinal actions & uses, nutrient profile, how to sustainably harvest and process the herbs, herbal safety, insight into health conditions that the plants support, as well as folklore, storytelling, self care invitations and lessons from Mother Nature.

Journey Through the Chakras

What IS a chakra?

Chakras, in general, are areas in our bodies ~ physical & energetic bodies ~ where there is an accumulation of energy and activity. The word chakra translates to “wheels” or “discs” of light, energy & movement, in Sanskrit. Interestingly, over my years of study in medical school, clinical setting & my past teachings of anatomy, I have found that there are very important anatomical features located at each chakra location - nerve bundles, organs, glands, vessels, etc. When these energies are blocked, congested, deficient, it can impact physical parts of that area, and symptoms can manifest.

Soul informs body.

Energy influences the physical.

Besides anatomy & location, chakras involve other elements & themes connected to them. For example, chakra medicines include elements, colors, senses, energies, meditations, healing modalities and practices, internal & external actions to strengthen or balance. And, of course, a favorite over here ~ herbs & botanicals.

In these classes, Dr. Sarah Sue will teach, guide, facilitate and explore the chakra for that class, including ~

  • energies, themes & lessons

  • location & anatomy

  • what it looks like when that chakra is blocked, congested or deficient

  • chakra-specific medicines - herbal, botanical, nutritional, elemental, ceremonial

  • naturopathic tools

  • practical & accessible practices to care for that chakra

  • breathing & meditation practices

What you get will receive ~

  • attendance to an online class (Zoom) ~ OR ~ a recorded version class if you miss the date

  • chakra-specific herbal formulation for you to work with

  • recorded guided visualization / meditation to help connect you to that specific chakra

  • other chakra-specific gifts & invitations for you and your personal practice and care

What if you miss the class?

You can receive a recorded version of the class, with all the other gifts and offerings.

Birthing Services

birthing classes bellingham washington

“Doula” comes from Greek, meaning “one who serves.” I serve those in a powerful rite of passage into parenthood. It is a sacred service an honor do to this work. Aside from serving, or attending one in labor, I also offer support leading up to birth, including birthing classes, family constellation work that helps to clear and heal family trauma, so it is not passed on to the next generation and make parenting a bit more enjoyable. As a mother, I also understand just how deeply we need the postpartum care. My doula support extends to the postpartum experience, including healing, processing the birth and trauma, craniosacral therapy, and supporting the process of transformation that every parent steps through.

Contact me if you are interested in attending one of my birthing classes or coordinating your own birthing class group.

"It was a delight to take Dr. Sarah Sue's birthing class series.  Her compassion, breadth of knowledge, and inclusivity of all birthing bodies and families were evident throughout her teachings."
